About Marianna S. Klebanov
Marianna S. Klebanov, J.D., is an attorney, writer, and policy advocate practicing in the field of child welfare, parenting advocacy, and mental health.
Klebanov is the coauthor of The Critical Role of Parenting in Human Development published by Routledge in 2014. She is an attorney with a specialty in matters relating to child welfare, family violence, and mental health, as well as a psychotherapist. She has served on the Children’s Rights Litigation Committee of the American Bar Association, on the Practitioner Panel for the Center on the Developing Child at Harvard University, and on the Child Abuse Prevention Council in California. She writes on issues relating to mental health, parenting, child abuse prevention, and brain development.
Klebanov spent seven years on the Board of Directors of Family and Children Services, overseeing the board’s relationship with the organization’s mental health and counseling programs. In addition, she served as Chair and legislative liaison to the Board of Supervisors for the Juvenile Justice Commission. Klebanov graduated with Honors from Berkeley with a bachelor’s degree in Linguistics, earned her JD from the University of California, San Francisco, where she was a journal editor, and earned a Master of Science degree in Clinical Psychology from Notre Dame de Namur University.
